The Challenge

When Galant Architectes approached us in late 2022, they faced a paradox common to established businesses: 26+ years of expertise and 150+ successful projects, but virtually zero digital presence. Despite being recognized locally in Brussels, they were invisible online when prospects searched for urban planning solutions.

The 2026 Rebuild: WordPress to Astro

By 2026 the site had outgrown the stack it launched on. 160 project pages, five languages and a growing blog, every page generated on request, with a portfolio map that depended on a third-party plugin whose roadmap was not ours.

We rebuilt it on Astro, generated at build time and served statically from Cloudflare Pages. The dependency list is three packages, so there is no framework runtime and far less to keep patched.

The rule was that not one URL moves. All 206 pages in the migration scope were rebuilt at their exact original addresses, and an automated check runs before every deploy: it compares each built page’s title, meta description, canonical, robots directive and H1 against a capture of the WordPress originals, and refuses to publish on a single mismatch. The 3,018 assets kept their original upload paths too. The sitemap holds 211 URLs today, the extra five being articles published since. Preserving addresses like this is the core of our WordPress to Astro migration service.

Across the main queries examined, average positions stayed close between the four weeks before the migration and the four weeks after.

Measured on the live site in September 2026, the home page scores 95/100 on mobile and 100/100 on desktop, with 100/100 on accessibility, best practices and SEO.

The Project Explorer: 26 years of work at a glance

The rebuild is also where the portfolio stopped being a list and became a search tool. The projects page borrows the layout people already know from Airbnb: results scrolling on the left, a map holding still on the right for the entire scroll.

Why it matters for an architecture firm: a homeowner with a permit problem does not want to read a portfolio. They want to see which projects the firm has handled near them, then open a card to find out what was actually done there. The map answers the first question before they read a word.

• 156 projects, every one a real server-rendered card, so the listing is fully crawlable and the cards stay readable with JavaScript switched off.
• Filter by commune, property type, surface band and year, plus free-text search on any address, with live result counts on every option.
• A custom Leaflet explorer with clustering replaces the old plugin. The cards and the map are built from the same project data.
• “Situer” on any card flies the map straight to that address.
• List and map views toggle on mobile, where the split does not fit.

This is the heaviest page on the site: 156 cards plus the map. Measured live in September 2026 it scores 93/100 on mobile and 97/100 on desktop, with 100/100 on accessibility, best practices and SEO.

Five languages from one source

Four language versions, Dutch, English, German and Spanish, are served from the French source. A correction made once in French reaches all four without a translation cycle.

Leads that land where the client works

The free-audit form runs on a Cloudflare Pages Function: bot filtering on submit, an instant notification to the office, a confirmation email to the visitor in the language of the site they submitted from, and a new row appended to the leads spreadsheet Galant’s team already lives in. If the spreadsheet call fails, the emails still go out.
